HP Laptop Batteries back calls for fire hazard


Affects between August 2007 and May 2008, delivered equipment dell inspiron 1100 battery. Batteries of the model series HP Pavilion, Compaq Presario, HP G6000 and G7000 and HP Compaq 65xx and 67xx can overheat. The exchange is free.


Hewlett-Packard has launched a recall of notebook batteries that were shipped between August 2007 and May 2008. The batteries could overheat and catch fire, said the producer.


The potentially faulty lithium-ion batteries are used in various models of the series HP Pavilion, Compaq Presario, HP G6000 and G7000 and HP Compaq 65xx and 67xx are used. Users are encouraged to replacement of the recalled lenovo thinkpad x41 battery products immediately.


HP and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), two cases are known in which batteries had caught fire. However no person had come to harm.


According to HP, "are less than three percent" of the installed batteries affected by the error. Laptop owners can check on a website, whether their product is one of them. All they need to match those specified on the battery serial number with a list. The exchange will be covered by the voluntary recall free, insured HP.


In May of last year, HP had launched a recall program for canon eos 350d battery grip. This was updated in October and now once again significantly expanded.


Other manufacturers have constantly to struggle with faulty batteries. So had last year alone, Asus, Fujitsu, Lenovo and Packard Bell recalled notebook batteries because of overheating.
